Vessel mobilisations, tooling & structures
The Brief
Fugro is an industry leader in remote operated vehicles(ROV) and inspection, repair and maintenance (IRM). The client required assistance to design and produce a variety of structural engineering solutions to support safe and secure vessel mobilisations and installations of equipment to an offshore location in the North West Shelf.
The scope of work included:
Designing grillage and sea fastening solutions
Designing installation aids
Designing remotely operated vehicle (ROV) tooling
Designing a rigging and lifting device
Our Approach
To overcome several schedule and procurement constraints, we approached local resources to obtain materials and equipment required to complete the project.
Multiple designs were required to suit different vessel types used during the mobilisation. We ensured a thorough approach to outline all design requirements and considerations. Open communication was maintained with our client and project stakeholders to adopt and work through any scope changes. We supported and prepared their designs for third party review as required by the project sponsor.
Our design process and approach ensured we met the following standards:
Det Norske Veritas (DNV)
American Institute of Steel Construction (AISC)
American Petroleum Institute (API)
Norwegian standards (NORSOK)
Australian standards
